Sundays too my father got up early
父亲星期日还要早起

and put his clothes on in the blue black cold,
在天蒙蒙亮的寒冷的清晨穿上衣服，

then with cracked hands that ached
忍着疼痛，用一双每日劳作磨破的手

from labor in the weekday weather made
生起炉火，

banked fires blaze..no one ever thanked him.
没有人感谢过他。

I'd wake and hear the cold splintering ,breaking.

When the rooms were warm,
房间暖了，

he'd call, and slowly i would rise and dress,
父亲开始叫我，我慢慢爬起，

fearing the chronic angers of that house
穿上衣服，生怕听到家里常有的呵斥声。

Speaking indifferemtly to him, who had driven out the cold and polished my good shoes as well.
