基本概况

Beijing Institute of Technology(BIT) is a state hey university，and an open，international and research-oriented university of science，engineering and humanities with science and engineering as the focus. It was founded in Yan'an in 1940 asYanan Academy of Natural Science, It is oneof the first universities to run a graduate school and receive privileged fund from the central government in"the 7th，8th and 9th Five Year Plan.8th is also one of the state Project 211" universities receiving preferential support from the state.

北京理工大学是“理工为主，工理文协调发展”的全国重点大学。其前身是1940年创办的延安自然科学院，是我国首批颁布的全国重点大学，是全国首批建立研究生院的高校是“一七五 八五”和“九五”期间国家重点投资建设的学校，也是国家首批“211工程”建设的高校。

 

In 2000，BIT was listed in"Plan 985"，which gives priority for developmenf by Commission of Science Technology and Industry for National Defense(COSTI ND) Ministry of Education and BeijingMunicipal Government.

2000年以国防科工委、教育部、北京市人民政府重点共建的形式进入国家高水平大学建设的“985工程”行列;

The main campus of BIT occupies floor space of 724000 square meters.an area of 1 369200 square meter The construction area fior Liangxiang Campus The construction area for Zhuhai is 3330000 collection ofi more than 2170000 items.

学校占地面积136.92万平方米，另有北京良乡校区建设用地152.83万平方米、珠海校区建设用地333万平方米。学校校舍建筑面积91. 24万平方米，校图书馆藏书217万册。

There are over 3500 faculty and staff，including 4 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)and 10 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering(CAE)，1431 full and associate professors(including researchers and senior engineers)，257 supervisors of doctorate programs 17 experts with outstanding contributions at the national level，5 special professors of“Cheungkong Scholars Program”and 251 recipients of special subsidies from the central government.

学校现有教职工3500名，其中中国科学院院士4名、中国工程院院士10名，教授、副教授(含研究员、高级工程师)1431名，博士生导师257名，国家有突出贡献中青年专家11名，长江学者奖励计划”特聘教授6名，享受政府津贴专家251名。

Each year BIT undertakes over I 000 research projects，the funding for scientific research at BIT has been increasing annually at large scale. Now BIT has 3 State Key Labs，4 Labs for State Key Discipline，1 open Lab of State Education Ministry，5 Key Labs of Beijing city.At present.

学校每年承担科研项目超过1000项，科研经费每年都有大幅度增长，有3个国家级重点实验室、9个国家重点学科、专业实验室、一个教育部开放实验室、5个北京市重点实验室。

the university comprises 13 schools and 41 departments and 43 institutes(research centers).As one of the first universities authorized by the State Council to grant doctorate and master degrees，BIT has 11 state key disciplines and 25 key disciplines at the ministry level. The university now has 11 doctorate programs in first-level disciplines，23 master programs in first-level disciplines，14 post-doctor stations，61 doctorate program disciplines，144 master program disciplines and 60 undergraduate majors.
