The outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome is causing problems for South Korea's economy in danger. Efforts to foster stronger growth in Asia's fourth-largest economy have been set back by the outbreak, which is denting tourism and spending by locals. 

It is believed that if the outbreak lasts for another three months, it will slash the national GDP by 0.8 percent. 

Since June 1, more than 100,000 tourists overseas have canceled their tour to the country, dealing a heavy blow to its tourism industry and related business. 

Almost all international conferences were either canceled or postponed.
