Hungarian authorities have cleared out most asylum seekers stranded in a temporary camp near the border with Serbia. About a thousand people who had been in the area were taken to be registered in transit camps in other parts of the country.

Most migrants want to avoid registration in Hungary, which involves giving fingerprints, because they fear that registering for asylum in Hungary may prevent them from leaving for Germany and other, wealthier, countries. Hundreds of refugees continue to arrive.
