Pan plays it cool

　　WHAT is being "cool"? Does it mean trendy clothes or special haircuts? Well, for Taiwan hip-hop king Wilber Pan, it means doing your job really well.

　　"As a middle school student, I admired older basketball players," said Wilber. "They seemed cool because they never gave up on court."

　　Wilber talked with Teens when he released his latest album Play it Cool (《玩酷》) in Beijing on September 26. This time his songs aren't all hip-hop. There are some ballads (民歌) as well.

　　"I try to do better each time," said Pan.

　　Because he's been singing for five years he now sees himself as "Brother Wilber". He says he wants to set a good example for young people.

　　Pan also speaks good English. In 2004, he published a book called I Don't Want to Learn the Rules of Grammar. He wanted to give his fans some tips on leaning English. He said the best way is to speak English as often as possible. "Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just let yourself go," he said. "Speaking and listening as much as possible is the practical way to learn English."

　　He also joked that the first English sentence he learnt was "Sit down Wilber!" Why? He wouldn't sit quietly in class. His English teacher used to say it when she got angry with him.
