  A think不表示征求意见或发表意见时,可用进行时态:

  —What are you thinking about?

  —I’m thinking about the play we saw last night.

  —你在想什么?

  —我正在想昨晚我们看的戏。

  但是:

  —What do you think of it?

  —I don’t think much of it.

  —你觉得怎么样?(征求意见)

  —我认为不怎么好。(表示意见)

  —Tom is thinking of emigrating.What do you think of the idea?

  —I think it is a stupid idea. He should stay where he is.

  —汤姆正在考虑移居国外。你认为这主意怎么样?

  —我看这主意很蠢。他应该留在原地。

  B assume意为以某种说法为出发点时可用进行时态:

  I’m assuming that you have time to do a lot of research.

  我姑且认为你有时间进行大量的研究工作。

  assume意为接过权力/掌管一个国家或组织时也可用进行时态:

  The new government is assuming power at once.

  新政府将立即掌握政权。

  C expect意指等待时也用进行时态:

  I’m expecting a letter.

  我今天在等一封信。

  She’s expecting a baby in May.

  她预期在5月份分娩。
