ThestoryhappenedduringtheCivilWareve.ScarlettO"Hara,a16-year-oldgirl,whowaslivinginTalamanorinGeorgia,waslovingherneighborAshleyWilkes.However,afterthewarhavebrokenout,AshleyWilkesmarriedhisyongercousinMelanie.Scarlettwassoangrythatshedecidedtomarryamanshedidn’treallylove----CharlesHamilton.Notlongafterthat,CharlesHamiltonjoinedtheArmyanddiedofillnessinthewar.SoScarletthadtoactasawidow.Afterwards,atadonatingdanceparty,ScarlettisacquaintedwithacaptainnamedRhettButler.ThentheflamesofwarapproachedAtlanta.Everyonewasbusyleavingawayfromthewar.ScarlettmanagedtoescapefromAtlantawiththehelpofcaptainRhett.HavingcomebacktoTalamanor,Scarlettmadeuphermindtorallyherhomelandatanycostwhenshesawthattheformermanorhadbeenruined.Later,hersecondhusbanddiedinthefight,shewasawidowagain.Durlingthattime,RhetthadbeenlovingScarlettsincerelyandwarmly.SeeingthatRhettcouldhelpherrallythemanor,Scarlettmarriedhim.AlthoughRhetthadsimilarcharacteristicattractingher,ScarlettstilllovedAshley.Later,theironlydaughterdiedaccidently,RhettleftScarlettsorrowly.AndthenScarlettrealizedthatRhettwastheonlyonewhocouldfallinlovewithher.
