Hours Spent on Unpaid Work 家务事上所花的时间

From the above diagram, we can clearly figure out the differences in the number of hours per week spent on unpaid work, which is unequally distributed between men and women.
从上图中，我们可以清楚的看出男性和女性在家务上所花费的时间是如此之不同。

In households where there are no children, women are reported to work some 30 hours per week in such tasks as housework and gardening.
在没有孩子的家庭中，女性每周大约要花30个小时料理家务和园艺。

Men's contribution to these unpaid jobs averages a considerably lower 18 hours. When children enter the household, however, the inequality becomes even more prominent. 而男性花费在此项的时间平均不到18小时。在有孩子的家庭中，这种分配的不平等则更加明显。

Interestingly, when there are three or more children in the household, men are found to work even fewer hours around the house than before the appearance of the third child. Whereas, women's unpaid hours soar to an unbelievable extent.
有意思的是，在有2-3个孩子的家庭里，男性花在家务上的时间甚至比没有孩子的家庭中男性花的时间更少。而与此相反，这种家庭里女性的家务时间则上升到了难以置信的地步。

The data suggest that the increased presence of women in the paid work force has not yet  led to an increased role for men in the home.
这些数据表明，随着女性外出工作的增加，男性并没有更多的分担家务。

Only with an awareness of inequality by both genders, can we expect some alteration in the contribution of men in doing housework.
只有在男女双方都意识到这种不平等时，我们才能期待男性在家务上有更多的付出。
